Saturday May 3rd

Mike and I changed from the winter wheels to the summer wheels and tires.  We also removed the front spoiler and installed the new one, boy was that a hoot, first time either of us had done it, I expect we could halve the time if we had to do it again.  We are getting pretty good at the wheels, we don't use the floorjack anymore, just the one that comes in the toolkit, it only took us about an hour for that whole operation including wiping down the wheels and lug nuts.

Monday May 5th

When the car was in for the 90K service they told me I would soon need new tie rods so to prepare for the trip it went in to get them replaced and get an alignment.  I also had it detailed so it would start the trip clean at least..

Tuesday May 13th

I decided that the steering wheel cover really should be sewn up, too much of the stitching was gone and it was getting worse as I tend to worry it as I drive.  I asked my friend Anne what kind of thread I should get and where I could get it and after she scoffed at me for my obvious inexperience and probable ineptitude at sewing it she offered to sew it up for me.  I bought some thread and needles just in case but after work I drove over to her house and she started on the wheel.  Unfortunately she didn't have time to finish before she had to get to her evening class, so she only had time to get part of it done.  It looks great and (as I write this Sunday) it is holding up just fine so far.  I brought the thread and needles along, so if I get time I may try to work on it or maybe I will try to convince her to do the rest of the wheel after the trip so it will be as neat as the part she already did.
