Banner Elk, NC - Headed toward Atlanta 5-20-02
Not
much to say here. It was mostly driving. Dan let me
take the first leg since it was our last time in the
mountains and while fun I didn't get to go all out.
Maybe next time.
Just
need to throw out a comment here... Were the vending
machines THAT BAD, that they had to be placed in
bondage? See pics for explanation.
Hit
Atlanta and I have to say this. The signs ARE
HORRIBLE. Trying to find your way through this town
by signs, even though we were confident of WHAT we
were looking for, finding it was downright silly.
Whoever is responsible for signing these exits and
routes must be signing because they are blind....or
using the force. There was such short notice that
you had to be in the exact right place for your exit
or turn or you were going to miss it in the 50-100
feet that they give you to merge. And I thought the
drivers in Chicago were nuts. These people drive a
whole lot worse.
Anyway,
food stop:
On
a recommendation went to Rays on the River http://www.raysontheriver.com
for dinner, located in an office park. Have
to say off the bat that I think at first they
thought we were cops or something because we were
both dressed in all black attire, including our
black sharktrip polo's with white logos wanting to
know who we were there for. It was pretty funny.
Both
of us started out with the lobster bisque and I had
horseradish encrusted black flounder in an orange
balsamic vinaigrette and Dan had broiled Red Trout
as entrees. There was a very large fish/ crustaceans
selection and I think four steak choices and chicken
choices. The food was good. The lobster bisque was
not anywhere close to Cafe Lucci and I think Bob
Chinns is better for seafood, but Rays is a good
place for like a first date or taking a client to or
out on a business trip rarity.
That's
all I have for today. Kinda uneventful.
